Read on to discover what to expect during your kitchen countertop installation.

The First Steps: Bringing Your Kitchen Vision to Life

Before we begin your transformation, we want to get a real feel for your style and what you need from your kitchen. Whether you have a clear plan or just some small ideas, we are here to help bring it all together.

We will arrange a meeting, which can be done virtually, in person, or at our showroom location in Stockport, where we can discuss how we can bring your vision to life.

Design Selection

The design stage allows you to add your own style and personality to your kitchen. Based on how you use your kitchen and your desired aesthetic, we will then be able to suggest different materials and design features that will suit your taste.

There are many things to consider when finding the style that is right for you, from edge profiles to colour and finish. The material of your countertop is an important factor, you may want to choose something like quartz, which is strong and durable, or porcelain, which is highly resistant to staining. Whatever design you want, we can find something just right!

Measurements

Accurate measurements are key to making sure we avoid any costly errors and keep things running smoothly. We’ll take exact measurements of your existing countertop, wall angles and corners, cabinet layouts, and any cutouts you need for your sink or cookers.

Quotes and Timeline

We know that sticking to a budget matters, which is why we aim to work within your price range. Depending on your kitchen layout and the types of materials you have chosen, we will provide you with a detailed quote including the cost of materials and labour. We’ll also make sure we provide you with the anticipated timeline from start to finish so you know exactly what to expect, keeping you updated every step of the way.

Preparing for Your Kitchen Countertop Installation

To keep things running smoothly on installation day, make sure you get your kitchen prepared before we arrive!

How to Prepare

Before our team arrives, you will need to remove everything from your workspace, things like appliances and decorative items or anything else you have lying around. This gives us plenty of space to work and means we are able to get started quicker and safer.

You will also need to make sure your cabinets under the sink and near any appliances, like your oven, are empty. This gives us space to easily access any plumbing or electrical connections when installing your countertops. In some cases, these utilities may need to be temporarily disconnected, but don’t worry, we’ll let you know in advance so you can plan accordingly.

Finally, make sure there is a clear path from your front door to the kitchen. Our installers will be carrying large, heavy materials, so a clear route keeps everything safe and efficient.

What to Expect on Installation Day

After all the planning and designing is done, your new kitchen countertop is ready to be installed! Not sure what to expect? Let’s find out.

Arrival and Preparation

Our installation team will arrive with all the tools and materials needed for the installation. We will start by placing protective coverings on any exposed areas, such as floors and surfaces, to avoid accidental damage or mess.

The team will carefully bring your new countertops into your home and perform a dry fit to check that the pieces fit perfectly before final placement. We will also check that any cutout sizes are exact around your sinks or cookers.

We will also take this moment to go over the project with you, answering any last-minute questions and reconfirming the design plan. Our plan for the day will be explained to you so you know what to expect during the process.

Countertop Installation

Once all measurements have been double-checked and the dry fit has confirmed that everything lines up perfectly, we can finally bring your vision to life!

When it comes to installation, the countertops will be secured in place with either silicone or construction adhesive, depending on your chosen material. Heavier countertops, like quartz, may require additional supports or brackets to keep everything secure and safe for you.

Once everything is in place, we will fill and join any seams with a resin or silicone to create a clean and seamless finish. Any small gaps between the wall and countertop will also be filled so the whole space looks clean and polished.

Cleanup and Final Checks

Once everything is installed and secure, we will wipe and hoover the surfaces and the surrounding area to remove any dust and debris. We want to make sure your new kitchen is spotless and ready for you to enjoy.

Our team will then do one final walkthrough with you to make sure you are happy with your new countertops. Whether you’re pleased with the look and installation, or whether there’s something small you’d like us to adjust, we are happy to take your feedback on board. We want our customers to feel satisfied with the work we produce, and we will make any necessary changes to achieve this!
